Beautiful, hand carved chess set. Each piece is unique, but carved accurately and this is a very attractive set. The chess board has a drawer that holds the chess pieces. The chess pieces are magnetic so are less likely to be inadvertently moved off the board. The chess board is made from attractive woods. 7 by 7 inch board (18cm x 18cm). The King is 3.2cm in height (base 1.5cm diameter), whereas a pawn is 1.9cm in height (base 1.3mm diameter).

This chess set is made from Boxwood (a hardwood) for the white pieces, and Sheesham for the black pieces. Dalbergia sissoo (sheesham) is one of the most useful timber sources of India, as it is readily carved or engraved.

this set is a real gem - finely carved and it the woods are solid. you can not see the magnets embedded in the bases of the pieces. the box has a
drawer to store the pieces.
